Because travel is life changing, it is worthy of capturing.
Hi, I’m Courtney, the founder of Drifters Travel + Photo.
I’ve often said I feel most myself when I am in a new place with my camera strapped around my neck. I find myself sucked into nothing but the moment at hand, enchanted by how a locale’s mundane moments become extraordinary through my lens with a bit of curiosity, wonder, and play. It is because of this that I founded Drifters Travel + Photo as it marries my two great loves: travel and photography.
Because of this, I can be completely myself here, and so can you. All are welcome here. In fact, my goal is to capture your story as authentically as possible - as you as you can be!
Drifters is based in Chicago, Illinois, one of the greatest cities in the world. While I am home, I capture lifestyle portraits for families, couples, and local brands. I approach these planned sessions with as much curiosity, wonder, and play that I embody when I travel.
When I am elsewhere in the world, I capture a destination through the lens of my camera for travel brands, tourism boards, hotels, excursions, and of course, for my own personal photo library - simply because I cannot resist.
I am also offering wild, intimate elopement photography. Nothing brings me more joy than telling your love story through my camera lens in a new place.
I am passionate about travel because it has changed my own life. As an avid solo female traveler, it has given me more confidence in my own abilities than any thing else I have ever done. It has continued to indulge my curiosities about new cultures, tastes, sounds, and landscapes. And it always leaves me amazed by the kindness, goodness, and enthusiasm those around the globe have so generously shared with me. I strive to show this truth through my work; that we all are more alike than different.
Thank you for joining me on this journey!
Drifters comes from a line in one of my favorite songs, Moon River, sung first by Aubrey Hepburn in “Breakfast at Tiffany's” and so beautifully covered by Frank Ocean just a few years ago. It’s a love song, full of nostalgia and a yearning to see the world. It’s love and wonder, which is what this business is built on.
“Two drifters, off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see”
